Inverness to Isle of Lewis

hi

I'm wondering if from Inverness or Isle of Skye to Isle of Leiws and back is possible in a day?
Wishful thinking? Just read about the standing stones in the Isle of Lewis and dreaming of seeing it ever since.

Thanks

Your post is marked as a trip report not a question. Get the editors to remove the report logo.

That said, it's a short flight from Inverness to Stornoway. So you could probably work it in.

Driving - no

Flying - yes

Possible vs. practical. Makes no sense to me at all to do even if you fly.

I agree that it doesn't make much sense as a day trip even if flying. Both places really need a car and time to explore.

It is a short flight and there are drivers one can hire on the island. If this is a bucket list, always dreamed of seeing, type thing then yes, it is doable.

The best idea - absolutely not. But it depends on how much you want/'need' to see the stones.

I did check with Flybe which usually has the best schedules for northern Scotland and an early morning flight which is the only one that makes sense is ( on a random date ) $150 one way. So while doable, it would be pricey.

. . . And I 'think' FlyBe may be the only option . . .
