I would take the tour of the Jewish Ghetto & also the Palazzo Ducale (the Doge's palace & there is a special tour of the secret trails there). I'd go to the Campanile (bell tower) of Vasilica di San Marco, as the views are as good as it will ever get.

If you're into tours of churches (and some historical figures are buried in them in Venice), you might want to contact the Sant'Appollonia Association. They have a whole group of churches set up on a tour.

If you're into art, the Scuola Grande di San Rocco, the Gallerie dell'Accademia, & the Museo Correr should fit the bill. Personally, I'm not big into modern art, but was pretty intrigued by the Guggenheim collection.

Have some refreshment at Cafe Florian in Piazza San Marco & relax & listen to the music.

All in all, it's a pretty wonderful place!
Buon Viaggio,
BC

I love Venice. Eat at Madonna's. Outstanding and priced extremely well. Expect a wait! If budget is no problem---check out Harry's Bar. If nothing more---go have a bellini there and their cheese sandwiches for lunch. Go have a drink on the outside patio of the Gritti Palace. Also a drink in the lobby of the Danielli Hotel. The piazza St Marco IS Venice! Walk around the alley's. Though it is a maze you will inevidably end up back where you started. Venice is the best!

Jennifer,

Get lost in Venice, go window shopping in Ca Foscari, and see how beautiful are the Venetian masks.. sigh. Go to the Hotel Danieli roof top restaurant at lunch time and order a risotto and a bottle of Prosecco, and watch the basin view while you wait, eat and drink. It's a wonderful view, the food is delicious, and the whole thing won't blow your budget up. And please, say cheers to this bodily absent, but present in soul...

..Surlok

Whatever you do, get up real early in the morning and go far away from the tourist areas to the back canals. This is pure magic. You will remember these moments for the rest of your life.
