IAD-NWI

I'm flying into Norwich UK from Washington IAD and I have a connecting flight in Amsterdam. I will arrive at 8:05 am and leave for NWI at 10:20. Will I have to go through customs and immigration there and at NWI or just at NWI. Also since I will be staying from Nov. to Apr, are they going to especially horrible to me at NWI like the were at Heathrow? Has anyone got any tips for me?

You mean you're intentionally planning to overstay the legal limit? If so, my tip would be to ditch that idea.

I think StCirq is asking whether your plans meet the UK's visa rules. You should of course make sure that you check these out (but StC, Nov-to-April is at most six months, and even a visitor visa allows that, doesn't it?).

If you are a U.S. citizen, you can't stay more than 90 days without obtaining a special visa. A LOT less than 6 months.

you can stay 6 months in the UK with just an American passport. I went last year and stayed from Sept. to the end of Jan. and they told me i still had time left if i wanted to stay longer.

There are many categories of visitors. A visitor is someone who generally intends to be in the UK for a short period, for example, to visit friends and family, to do business, to do a short course of study, to have private medical treatment. The information given here aims to deal with the various categories of visitors coming to the UK.
In general, you must show that:
you want to visit the UK for no more than six months;
you intend to leave the UK at the end of your visit;
you have enough money to support yourself during your stay in the UK without working or needing help from public funds. See question 'What are public funds?';
you do not intend to take paid or unpaid employment.

That is directly from the Home Office website.

So, what kind of visa do you hold? And why do you think the folks at the airport in Heathrow were so "horrible" to you?
