How much does a bottle of champagne cost in a Paris grocery store?

It's been a few years since I bought a bottle of champagne in a Parisian grocery store. I can remember bringing home some Veuve Cliquot for about $20.

How much does a bottle cost nowadays? Of Nicolas Feuillatte or Veuve Cliquot? Or anything similar?

I did a web search without any luck.

The big brands (Lanson, Moet, Taittinger..) are between 28 and 35 Euros, smaller brands (like Jacquart) between 18 and 22 Euros.

As for french wine..
Please recommend some that are under $20.00 a bottle...
and can be found at grocery store or any wine merchant.
We want to get a few bottles to keep in our apartment.
We are innocent on what to buy...

We go into Monoprix on the Champs Elysees and guess at which are good, usually inexpensive, less than 4-6 euros. The ones we picked were good enough.

By the way, there are some good and inexpensive wines at the Galleries Lafayette in Paris.

The folks at the numerous Nicolas wine stores are usually very helpful about picking out good, inexpensive wines.

Any grocery store will have a good selection of in-expensive wines. We buy the Champagne Methods too, which are similar in taste to the California sparkling wines. They are a good choice when you don't want to pay for champagne.

You can get Heidsieck & Co Monopole or Nicolas Feuillatte for about 21 euros.

Our "house wine" at the moment is Château du Bois de la Garde 2006 - Côtes du Rhône - its about 6 euros and you can get it in the Nicolas. Cheap and cheerful - good price quality ratio for an everyday red.

Thank you all for your replies.

It has been a while, as I said, but it's an absolute must as a price line in the budget. Yum.

Ok, I suggest you try to find a bottle of Salon de Mesnil. This is a top end Champagne and absolutely first rate. It is not cheap, however.

Never the less a good Cava will be cheaper than a bad Champagne. I actually prefer Cava to Champagne. Heresy I know.
