How is luggage handled on Palm Express?
I hope to use the Palm Express from Lugarno to St Moritz or Chur and then Bernina Express to Tirano and then through to Milan. I have some difficulty with handling luggage and am wondering how luggage is handled on Palm Express.
Can anyone advise me please?
Do I need to get luggage up into the bus on my own?
Thanks

Well, that is an excellent question - totally not answered on the Swiss Postal Bus website.
http://www.postauto.ch/en/pag-starts...bot-detail.htm
On this website is the email address [email protected] - may I suggest you just directly email them? Also note that the Palm Express is only on weekends (Sat, Sun, Mon, until July, then daily until October.
However, may I point out that the Bernina Express will run with a bus from Lugano to Tirano and then rail on to Chur (not stopping in St Mortiz). I mention this as prior postings on this forum have noted that the transfer from the Rhaetan railway to the Italian rail station in Tirano is not a straightforward proposition, but if you book with the Bernina express, they then are responsible for you and your luggage the whole trip. I have not done the trip myself, so I do not have first hand experience with this location. You will notice that either way, reservations are manditory.Best of luck. Please feedback to us how things go!

Thanks so much for info. I had looked at timetable which I thought said the service is available Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 June to 21 October. Now I realise that Lugano to St Moritz is No 11 which appears to be Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 9 June. The availability does make a difference to my itinerary planning. Looks like I will need to adjust my time in Locarno somewhat. My German and Italian lessons only started last week, so my reading of timetable is not reliable.
I have emailed them regarding timetabling and my query regarding baggage handling.
Shall let you know what I learn.
Thanks again

I was trying to avoid the bus from Lugano to Tirano as the Palm Express seemed more scenic as per postings on this forum. I have learned through email to Swiss independent travel that it is not possible for me to have baggage transferred from Switzerland to Italy. This is a shame as I was quite willing to connect with my larger baggage in Milano after I was: Golden Pass Spiez to Luzern, William Tell Express to Locarno, some days in Locarno, Palm Express and overnight in Chur, Bernina Express to Tirano, Tirano to Milan. It seems I may to manage my baggage myself at certain points. Travelling with some disability (walking stick) and a dodgy back presents some logistical challenges.
I would never have managed to sort out an itineray for myself without the excellent resources of the Fodors Forum. I shall soon put up my itinerary for comment. Then I need to decide on which Swiss Pass to invest in.
I also intend to put up a trip report which I hope will be of benefit to others who have ambitions to travel Switzerland with some physical limitations. No doubt there will be some hilarious events! But I don't intend to die wondering if I could have achieved my ambition.

Information I have learned re Palm Express
Good news re Palm Express. I asked them by email if service was available from 21-24 June. They have replied that daily services are available on those dates. Looking at their timetable it appears to say that daily services are available from 8 June to 21 October. I have asked them if this is true. They also stated that assistance with luggage would be available from the bus driver.
In my case I have decided to use SBB rail baggage service from Spiez to Locarno, and from Locarno to Chur. I shal connect to Chur from St Moritz after arrival on Palm Express.
Thanks all
