How do these two London locations (Trafalgar and Kensington) compare?
We are a family of four( two teenagers, ages 18 and 14) travelling to London for spring break. We are looking at two Citadines hotels. One is in Kensington on Gloucestor street and the other is in Trafalgar Square on Northumberland. What are the pros and cons of staying at each location?

Wnat to double check the address of the one in Kensington? Gloucester STREET is not in Kensington. If it is on Glocester ROAD - then that is a terrific location too. It is near Hyde Park, the V&A, Kens Palace. The Kensington one is in more of a "neighborhood", while Trafalgar is very close to the river, the National Gallery and many theatres. You won't go wrong with either one, really.

Well - who told you that? It is pretty nutty advice IMHO. I personally would choose Gloucester Rd if I had kids w/ me (because it is so close to the V&A, Natural and Science Museums and the parks) and probably Trafalgar if I was on my own (to be near the theatres, Soho, Covent Garden and the river.)

I agree with Janis, there's certainly nothing to avoid around Trafalgar. If you're interested in theatre, it's better than Kensington. Also, if you think you want to take the bus, Trafalgar Square has stops for more lines in every direction than almost anywhere else. Although we stayed on the other side of the square from Northumberland, my 80-year-old mother & I walked all around that area at night with no problems.
