Hotel Primevera or Residenza San Pantaleo - Which is better with children? Which would you recommend? Need to make reservations today. Please respond. Thanks.

Need to make reservations today for either Hotel Primavera or Residenza San Pantaleo in Rome for this July. Since they are located in the same building (I think), I am wondering which to choose. Is one better than the other with children (14yrs, and 10yrs)? Based on your experience, should I request any particular rooms in either of these hotels? My fallback hotel is the Pantheon View B & B. Any feedback? Thanks much for any help you can give me. Kat

Kat,

I can't comment because I haven't stayed at either, but I would like to know how you are contacting the Hotel Primavera. Residenza San Pantaleo was fully booked for my May trip so I would like to try Hotel Primavera but I can't find a website.

I can comment on the Hotel Primarvera. I would think it would be good with kids. Our fifth floor room had one single and one double bed. According to all reviews I have seen, the fifth floor ones are the nicest (rooms 13-19). It has an elevator and a small restaurant (can't remember if it serves more than breakfast). I think I first learned of the hotel through the Cheap Sleeps book. I found this phone number for you on the Web. As I am at work, I couldn't verify it with my own resources. 06-68803109

Oh, I also wanted to mention that it is in a great location for kids. It is close to the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and Campo dei Fiori. If your kids are McDonald's lovers and get withdrawal, there is one at the Pantheon and another about a minute walk down the street from the hotel. The latter was a good place to pick up a cold Coke to take back to the room at night. There is an ATM machine right by the door to the hotel's building.

"Iwants" message made me realize that I do not have an e-mail address for the Hotel Primevera - just phone and fax. Does anyone have an e-mail address or are phone and fax the only way to contact them. Dan - thanks for your posts - they made me more anxious to contact the hotel before they are already booked - if not already. Kat

I was considering a stay at Hotel Primavera and found lots of good comments on this board. But I saw a letter to the editor in today's Frommers newsletter that gave me serious pause. Although this writer's experience was not in the "regular" hotel but in an annex,(not sure how often the owners book people in this annex) anyone considering a stay at this hotel should probably take a look at that letter.

Maddy

Margo - Thanks for the detailed info. I booked 2 double rooms at Residenza San Pantaleo in July for 99euros each, including breakfast and tax. Carlo responded promptly via email, and has contacts with a transfer company that will pick us up from the airport at a charge of 45euros, if we are interested. After 12 hours of travelling with 2 kids, I think I'll take him up on it.

I didn't realize there were no phones in the rooms until I read your post. Oh well, the office will have to live without me.

Thanks again - Kat
