How much does the Heritage Pass cost? Is it available for purchase in London? Thank You.

Kandace, <BR>The pass is available from the British Tourist Authority, 551 Fifth Avenue, Suite 701, NY 101760799, Tel:800 986 0479. The seven day pass is approximately $50, the 15 day pass $70. <BR>It is primarily a value if you're traveling outside of London. In London, for example, the pass does not grant free access to the Tower of London, simply 50% of the regular admission. <BR>

We used the Great Britsih Heritage Pass on our trip two years ago, and found it great. I wrote an article on www.BootsNAll.com travel site about how to maximize the pass. ( I hope that's not advertising because I don't make any money on visits)

I'm confused about the conflicting views as to whether the Heritage Pass is worth <BR>buying. My family used it 15 years ago and found it valuable. I'm quite sure we waited in a very short line (of Heritage passholders) at the Tower of London and bypassed the much longer line of people waiting to buy regular tickets. Most other places we used it didn't have significant lines, but most were far away from London. <BR> We're planning to go to York and the <BR>Yorkshire Dales--and maybe the Lake District-- in late May. Can we use the pass at Fountains Abbey? Are there any <BR>interesting "stately homes" or any places with gardens what we can visit in that area? <BR> Oh, we're going to Bath? Aren't there several places in Bath where we can use it? <BR> I really appreciate all the advice. <BR>

If you go to www.visitbritain.co they have a lot of information on the Heritage pass as well as a complete listing of all places that accept the pass. (I hope the website is right - I'm pretty sure about the visitbritain part, but not sure what was after it!)

Or, from Tickets To, telephone 1 800 869 8184 or 212 529 9069. It can also be purchased at many places in the UK. Offers free entry to almost 600 historic houses, castles, and gardens in the UK. Although it can be used in many sites in and around London (including the Tower, Hampton Court, and the Banqueting House), it is a "good deal" only if you will be doing much traveling and sightseeing elsewhere in England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland. <BR>Even outside of London, If you have children the Heritage Pass may not be the cheapest way to go since it does not provide student discounts while per-visit tickets do. If you are traveling during the week and during the British school year, most tickets lines will be short (except for Windsor Castle) and children always get the student discount so it may not be worth getting the Heritage pass <BR>
