Help with Itinerary for Ireland
Planning a trip to Ireland for mid-June, and wanted to be sure this itinerary would work:
Day 1 -- arrive Dublin. Spend two more nights (Three total).
Day 4 -- Rent car. Drive to Glendalough, spend night in Kilkenny
Day 5 -- Stop at Cashel. Continue on to Kenmore to spend the night OR Drive to Dingle (feasible or too long a day?)
Days 6, 7, -- Tour area.
Days 8 and 9 and part of 10 -- Base near The Burren and environs.
Day 10 -- Spend night in Adare
Day 11 -- Depart Shannon.
Late last year I requested help with trip to the UK, and received good advice, but we've decided to try Ireland. As on the earlier trip, we hope for some good walking, ruined castles and abbeys, and ancient sights. My main concern is with days days 5,6.and 7. Killarney National Park looks like a great spot, but would stopping there make our time in Dingle too short?
Appreciate your advice!

3 Days for Dublin, fine.
Wicklow and Glendalough to Kilkenny fine but be aware the Castle and Cathedral/Round tower close about 5 pm
Kenmare is a great base if you were to spend a day on the Beara Peninsula but if you want the National Park, Gap of Dunloe, Black Valley, Muckross House and Gardens, Ross Castle then Killarney makes the best base.
I am a big fan of Clare and the west Clare coast has a lot to offer but you could pinch a night from here for the Dingle peninsula. then stay in Adare before Clare.
Ennis is a great base for County Clare and being only 1/2 hour north of Shannon Airport could make a good last couple of nights

I haven't seen Ennis mentioned in the guide book I've been using. What are its attractions? The reason I selected Adare was its proximity to Shannon, and it's supposed to be an attractive town.

Ennis is the County Town of Clare, working Market town with a good infrastructure lots of Bars, Restaurants, Comhaltas centre, Gloré Theatre, Couple of Abbeys within the town bounds. Its not tourist central so possibly not in many guide books, it is though the centre for major Irish festivals.
Adare is the chocolate box lid quaint English Cotswold town south of Limerick. Mainly featured with Adare Manor which target markets the US tourist trade.
To get an overview of Ireland you might want to check a couple of independent guide books, doesn't matter if they are a few years old. Avoid the Rick Steves guide unless you only want to see places his minions like.

Dublin itself has much to offer...and this being the 100th anniversary of the Easter Uprising I suggest Kilmainham Jail and post office paintings of the struggle. See www.easter1916.net. Of course much to enjoy including the pub music.
heading south and then west Glendalough, Kilarney, Dingle Peninsula, the Burren and more are great sites. I'll add Bunratty Castle with Folk Park next door. And Craggaunowen Castle and Kilmacdaugh and Rock of Cashell.

Thanks all for your suggestions. I think I have a pretty good idea now.
brookums71 -- very much enjoyed your trip report with its lively verbs. I think you have found a hotel for me, Cahernane House. One thing -- I like wine or beer with dinner, but do not drive after a drink -- is the hotel within walking distance of town?
