Has the fighting stopped?
Yesterday I visited the US board for the first time in several months after getting discouraged by all the negative posts last spring. it all seems much better. today I thought I'd check out the Europe board. things tend to be a little nastier here. who is this m_kingdom guy and what is his problem?

My dear, people who ask such ridiculous questions such as "will there be a terrorist attack when I'm on holiday?", "am I allowed to wear white trousers in Paris?" etcetera deserve to be treated with contempt, and shouldn't be taken too seriously.
I'd rather not be referred to as a "guy", for various reasons...

m_kingdom, check inside your pants!
Come on, admit it - you are really a swell fella who only tries to motivate others to improve themselves. I bet you are a real pussycat/teddy bear inside that grand mansion in Mayfair!

Against my better judgement, I'm posting a reply. I say this because I think the person this thread is about adores seeing their name in print and I don't want to encourage it.
However, no one here deserves to be treated with contempt unless they are making racist or truly nasty statements as opposed to innocent questions.
There have been times when I would have liked to post a question but didn't bother because I just wasn't up to a beating that day.

I think the "problem" with M-Kingdom, for SOME people here is the fact that this poster has obviously found a way to garner a great deal of attention without resorting to "amusing" trip reports, faux redneck behaviors, etc., and has, at times, totally eclipsed somne of the others in desperate need of emotional fulfillment, internet fame, and so forth.
The person is also a rather notorius name dropper in terms of hotels and so forth which has apparently infuriated another well-known individual who loves to let everyone know where they've stayed...etc., etc.
A few days ago a pissing contest erupted between these latter two that was worthy of the Fox network....
Yes, things are very lively over here....do stay tuned.

Lucygirl, my dear, it's never ever personal, how can it be if we don't know each other personally?
Comments are made in response to questions, nothing deeper!
I hope you aren't upset all day long if you've been driving and have someone hooting and letting out their road rage on you, calling you various expletives...

Ha ha ha!! I KNOW that this is a travel forum and that people really do want to either a) share experiences or b) learn from others experiences; but really, can't we have a bit of fun doing it!??
Personally I LOVE m_kingdom2's input - maybe because I too am a Brit and that's the kind of sense of humour we have. I'm afraid that people ask the most ridiculous things - so what should they expect?!!

"another well-known individual who loves to let everyone know where they've stayed...etc., etc"
Huh???? Are you kidding, TopMan?
That's not what upsets me about m_kingdom. What upsets me is how he/she continually insults well meaning posters. Like the current thread in which someone mentions coat and tie and we are treated to ranting and raving about how a coat is a long overcoat and how stupid anyone is who says otherwise. I could care less how much money this person spends or where they stay (and I'm not aware that I "love to let everyone know where I've stayed" except within typical trip reports or when asked for a recommendation of a hotel -- the cheaper places I stay are hardly a basis for bragging!) But what I do object to is one poster constantly belittling and making fun of anyone who can't "afford" the best, and making such absurd recommendations as one of London's most expensive seafood restaurants as a place for casual take-a-way fish and chips.

Lucygirl - my contempt for stupid questions is just that, not contempt for the individual, but contempt for the question. My responses aren't personal as I have no idea who the person behind the question is.
