Good books for kids about Italy/set in Italy?
We are taking my daughters to Italy this year. I'd like to get them reading about Italy before then, they are ages 10 and 13 both avid readers. What books would you recommend for them to read before we go? I'm thinking historical fiction geared to their ages and preferably having girls as the main characters as they both prefer that. Thanks!

I did an advanced search on amazon using "young adult" "italy" as keywords. This type book may or may not be what you had in mind but there were many others to choose from.
Here's an example of one:

Check out the Stravaganza series set in a medieval parallel version of various Italian cities. Some modern teens have the ability to move into this alternate universe. There are female and male protagonists, equally interesting. The novels are historically-based, with the twist of not being exactly the same past as ours. It is fun to be able to pick out our equivalents. And, you can pick up some history along the way.
