Give me encouragement to push the purchase button on Expedia.com
$750 each
9/4 NS to Zurich from JFK
9/15 Venice to JFK with one stop in Zurich
I keep thinking it will go down, but I have a feeling it's not.

If this gives you any perspective, I paid $720 on a student discount in May/June
IAD Dulles-Paris thru London
Rome-Dulles thru London
sounds like a good price, plus with gas prices the way they are, go for it!

Anything can happen in 3 months.
I was about to purchase my london tickets for 600 plus dollars in early february for May travel....I checked and checked and checked and all the prices were around 600 plus dollars.
But, I got wind to a sale, and snagged tickets for 400, I booked my other tickets for 200 dollars, so I am now seeing two places for less than 610 dollars.
I would keep checking all of the airline websites.......it could go down...

Normally I would ask why you are buying the tickets on Expedia vs. directly from the airline? Often the same or cheaper. But checked kayak.com and can't beat your price. Lowest I see is $801 and not sure that includes taxes. Looked on Swiss Air website and it's $800 just roundtrip to Zurich plus $200 taxes. So if you're sure that price includes taxes and it's an airline/flights you want, I'd say book 'em.

Mclaurie, Is www.kayak.com new? And do you like it? I"m helping more friends with airfare and I'm not doing as well as I thought I would.

Before you push that button ..... Check the site of the airline you are booking with. Sometimes they have even a better fare when you go through them directly. Doesn't seem right, but I did it last year for Ireland trip. Saved about $60pp.

Swiss Air quoted me 1200 on the phone and you can't do a multi city on their website. I went ahead and booked it. It came out to $749pp. I can't imagine I'll do better. If we could go in and out of Zurich I would have fared slightly better, but it would make no sense to take the train from Venice back to Zurich for the savings. We would end up spending the savings on train travel.

Sounds almost too good to be true.
Kodi, kayak is not so new. I like it b/c it does a lot of work for you and basically sends you to where the deal is rather than being a seller themselves. Similar to sidestep. That said, it evidently doesn't search expedia and didn't have the fare that natinwpb found.

Thanks McLaurie. I'll start to use it along with the other sites I use. Every little bit helps.
Good to know about.
Natinwpb, I'd say push the button. If you are satisfied that it's a good deal, you may be sorry you waited. Go for it.

Hi rbnwdln -- yes a semester in Perugia. I live in Iowa, but she goes to school in NC. Did your kids enjoy their time abroad?
If anyone is interested, here's a link to another thread on this site that has a long list of airfare search sites (up to 68 now):

Marie,
I did a year abroad in Italy 8 years ago - one semester in Florence and the other in Rome. Best time of my life. It really opened my mind... Been living in Switzerland for 5 years now. (Though I'm sure your daughter will want to stay close to you ;o) )
For All - Stay away from Swiss... Awful seats. I usually fly BA. Sometimes I have to make a stop, but it's well worth it on long flights.
