You may end up paying more if you book the flight now but you run the risk of getting no flight in August if you don't. August is peak travel time in Spain and Malloca will be crowded. As for the ferry, unless you are on a budget or have a lot of time, I would fly. The ferry ride is very long!

I´ve just booked for the ferry and it is going to be 3 hours to Barcelons, I had no choice because I take a car, but I would consider it, there is a new ferry that it's a lot faster that what it used to be. Try looking gor the ferry information at internet.
