Please tell me what you think and what we should/could change. Also is there a rail pass that would save us money? There are 4 of us. 2 seniors 2 teens
Day 1 Fly into frankfurt arrive at 6:10 am. Take train from Airport to Cologne.
Spend remainder of day in Cologne
Day 2- Day trip to cochem
Day 3 Take train from Cologne to Bavaria (Garmisch)
Spend rest of day in Garmisch
Day 4 take the Zugpitz railway trip
Day 5 day trip to Hohenschwangau & Schwanstein Fortress. (where would we get off and how would we get in between the castles?
Day 6 Train to Munich spend 1 night
Day 7 train to Salzburg

For day 5, you are talking about Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein, right? You can walk between the castles or walk down from Hohenschwangau castle and take a bus or a horse cart up the hill to Neuschwanstein.
For days 6 and 7 - will you be spending more time in Salzburg after day 7? If not, I would be inclined to only visit Munich or Salzburg rather than both.

I am sure the web site for the castles has all the info you need about logistics - it has been a few years since we went, so I don't remember how far it is, but they give you plenty of time between tours to get from one to the other. When you buy your tickets, H is first and N is second on your itinerary. You can buy tickets ahead of time online and skip the lines.
Your time in Munich is pretty short, but if you take an early train from Garmish and then a late train to Salzburg, you will have time to see a reasonable amount in Munich. You do have a bit of back tracking here - you travel south to Garmish, north to Munich, then back south to Salzburg. Check train routes, but you might be better off visiting Munich after Cologne and before Garmish.
I don't see where you would fit Nuremburg into your itinerary though. You'd have to cut something out, so it is just a matter of priorities.
