Gdansk & Baltic in October
We have at most 3 days between Krackow & Prague to spend in Gdansk & the Baltic. Is it worth the time? I understand two days will be for travel so its really only 1 day. I am thinking that is not enough time to even quickly see the area. May I have your opinion?

Why did you tag this for Czech Republic?
Gdansk is on the other side of Poland from Krakow. If you're not jumping on a direct flight from Krakow to Gdansk and then from Gdansk to Prague, it's a real haul. Gdansk is a nice town and Malbork Castle is imposing, but there is no sense in traveling AWAY from Prague and across all of Poland just to have to backtrack later.

I agree. Gdansk is really nice, but it's a waste of time with such limited travel time to go from Krakow up to Gdansk.
What about Wroclaw? It's less historic (it was bombed out in World War II and was rebuilt), but it's a pleasant town and not as far out of your way. The Racławice Panorama - a famous Polish 360 degree panorama painting depicting a battle between Russia and Poland - is in its own museum in Wroclaw - very worth seeing. There are direct buses from Krakow to Wroclaw (about 3.5 hours) or a 5 hour direct train. And it looks like a 5.5 hour train from Wroclaw to Prague.

I was going to suggest Wroclaw. I loved the town, especially wandering around looking for dwarfs. The Panorama was great too. Loved the fire dancers at night in the main square (they are also in Krakow), the White Stork synagogue (spared during Kristallnicht), cathedral island. I had a private guide for a 3 hour tour at a very reasonable rate.

I also do not know why you would go North to Gdansk.....waaay on the other side of Poland for one full day and then fly South from Gdansk to Prague.
You can do it if you have some special reason to visit Gdansk.!!!
The above suggestion about Wrovlaw is a good bet.
