Gas prices in France-need help with budget
Can anyone out there help me with information on the current price of gasoline per liter in France? My friend and I are trying to calculate expenses for upcoming drive from Paris to Arles and driving around the Provence region before returning to Paris. We are trying to figure out the most economical way to get around either by training down to Arles and renting car then training back to Paris or just driving the roundtrip in rental car. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Here you can find fuel prices within Europe:
http://www.theaa.co.uk/motoringandtr.../motfue001.asp

You can also have a look at www.iti.fr to get the overall cost including tolls and gas for itineraries in France.

Julie - We've used the site Bob recommended and found it to be very helpful as well. I think it's the one that lets you select fast, sorta fast, and scenic routes? Remember that the fast ones in France are often on the autobahn-like highways that don't exactly encourage sightseeing or interesting drives through small villages. Might want to plug that into your calculations somehow, even though it isn't really financial in nature.

We just returned from a trip which included 4 days driving around Normandy. We usually purchased gas at the supermarkets where it tends to be cheaper. For unleaded, we paid about 6.8 francs per liter. Diesel is less expensive. The gas stations on the Autoroute were much higher, 7.5 francs or more per liter.
