Frankfurt to Berlin. Which station?

I will arrive in Frankfurt Airport from Singapore, and need to get to Berlin. I have decided to catch a train, but can't work out if it is better to first travel to the main train station, and catch the ICE train to Berlin, or if I can get a train to Berlin directly from the Airport train station. I have checked on the Bahn site and it seems to only have trains originating from the main train station. However when I look at the airport site, it tells me that I can catch a long distance train to Berlin from the airport. Since I will be coming from Australia and will already be exhausted by the time I get to Frankfurt, I would like to make the rest of the journey as painless and uncomplicated as possible. Please give me some advice. I need to book my tickets tomorrow to get the reduced prices, so would be most grateful for any help. Thank you.

If you type "Frankfurt airport" or "Frankfurt Flughafen" as departure point, you get connections which leave from the station at the airport. I think you need to switch trains at Hannover.

But there are some trains from Frankfurt main station to Berlin with direct connection. So in the end it might be more comfortable to go to the main station in the city and take one of them (if you need to switch a train once, you might as well do it at Frankfurt).

Are you confusing the word Main (for the name of the river, hence the name Frankfurt on the Main for the name of the city/airport? Main (as in primary) train station = Hauptbahnhhof (Hbf) in German.

Long distance trains to Berlin originate at the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof. You'll take a 12min S-bahn train from the airport (Frankfurt(Main)Flugh) to Frahnfurt Hbf).

Hans is correct - there are also high speed trains right at the airport - connecting in Hannover. There don't seem to be any direct (no-change) trains from the airport to Berlin.

Thank you, thank you , thank you. This is exactly the sort of information I needed. And Hans, thank you also for the practical advice. I agree that since I need to change anyway, I might as well do it in Frankfurt, and then settle in for a direct trip. Now I can go to sleep and book it tomorrow. Goodnight.
