France/Spain Train Pass or Not

We will be travelling from France to Spain and are wondering if the two country eurail pass would be worth the cost. We will be travelling on four different days. Paris to Madrid, Madrid to Seville, Seville to Cordova and then Cordova to Madrid. I can't tell whether there is an additional renfe cost on top of the eurail France/Spain 4-day pass. Also, I wondering if it would just be cheaper to fly to Madrid and then continue the other trips by train. Of course, then we would need to add in another night's hotel cost. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi VC,

Enter your itinerary at www.railsaver.com, click "only if it saves me money" to see if you should buy a railpass.

i have only done the overnite from paris to barcelona. however, the train is very well worth it. the eurorail pass is awesome. just make sure you buy it before you leave the US. you will find it is 3 times more expensive. i always use eurorail. make reservations as well. it is well worth the small fee.

Thanks, ira. I checked it out and it was better to not buy a pass. However, it looks like we will change our plans a little and take a bus to Granada from Seville instead of going to Cordoba. Something about seeing the Alhambra.
We have also decided to take the train from Paris for the experience if nothing else.

If taking the train sans pass check out the Elipsos (name of Paris-Spain overnight train) Value fares of about 50% off normal fare - thru RailEurope or their agents like BETS (800-441-2387), the one i always recommend for their expertise and great service. Also check www.renfe.es for prices in euros or www.sncf.com for France Rail prices in euros.

PalenqueBob, thanks for the response. I will indeed look into BETS as I get closer. We are scheduled for the last two weeks of July and many sites don't accept reservations this far in advance. I do have my Paris appartment already, though.
