My husband and I are planning a trip to France for Mid May of 2018. It is our first time to France and of course want to see everything I have put together an initial itinerary and would appreciate any feedback and advice. Here's the plan so far:
Fly into Paris spend 5 nights, then rent a car.(where's the best place to pick up car to avoid traffic our fist stop will be Giverny?)
Nights 6,7 & 8 in Bayeux
Night 9 Le Mont St Michel
Night 10 & 11 Amboise (with a stop in Dinan on the way)
Nights 12,13,14,&15 in Sarlat
Night 16 in Albi
Night 17, 18,19 &20 in St. Remy
Nights 21,22 & 23 in Annecy
Nights 24 & 25 in Colmar
Night 26 in Reims
Turn in car in Reims and train back to Paris, probably to a hotel near the airport to fly home on day 28

We have some flexibility in our time, but are trying to keep the trip under a month.Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

In Neuilly, at a CITER/Enterprise office in Ave Achille Peretti, you are close to exiting Paris in the direction of Giverny. Worked for us.

Sounds like a great trip!

If you can add a few days, you might consider stopping in Toulouse. You'll be so very close, and it is a charming little city, IMO.

a "little city" of 500,000 people and the 4th largest city in France after Paris, Lyon and Marseille !

@ Pvoyageuse: I appreciate the correction, while noting that size is relative, and compared to MY experience, 500,000 people is on the small side. More to the point, the central core of Toulouse is, IME, small enough to be easily visited by foot.

I have to agree with kja; 500,000 people equates to pretty small for many of us, and as much as I love Toulouse (and I do), the parts of it one wants to spend a lot of time it makes it seem like a very manageable space (and I've spent lots of time in the parts of it most tourists would never get to).

I was recently in Tianjin, China.
I asked if it was a big city since I had hardly ever heard of it : 15 millions inhabitants...

So yes Toulouse with 500 000 inhabitants is a small city ime.
