Ferry to Marseilles

Can anybody tell me if there are ferry trips to Marseilles from any of the small seaside ports near by? Rather than drive or train to Marseilles I thought this could be an alterative.

Thank you

GACM (www.answeb.net/gacm) run boats from Marseille to Chateau d'If and Iles Frioul, and excursions to Cassis, but there is no regular boat service to Marseille from other coastal towns. The boats go from the old port in Marseille. If you arrive by train, it's easy to take the metro to Vieux Port.

Geoff
Thank you, it amazes me the number of sites that can be found through helpful fodorites. Looks like we can do a short trip and see the coastline.

I need to look carefully at the translation but I see a "Trajet avec bateau vision sous-marine" goes to Carry Le Rouet. That's the type of place I had in mind to get ferry from save driving into Marseille,
Can you help with that trip?

Thanks

Sorry, but the only trips I've done are to the Chateau d'If and Iles Frioul. The trip along the coast eastwards is described as "visite sans escale" which means non-landing. Perhaps you might have to travel into Marseille to do a boat trip to view the place where you're staying.

Thanks Geoff,
We were just heading to one of the small coastal towns for a day trip from Uzes, by car and thought we could get to Marseilles that way. We might take the train to Marseilles another day and do one of the trips available. I guess you just have to turn up and buy ticket! thanks again for your helpful advice.
