Carnival in Venice! although prices go up even more than they are already in Venice. Or skiing in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy or Kitzbuehel, Austria. Driving down to Pau in France. Driving down to Reggio di Calabria from Rome via Naples. Tons and tons of choices.

I'm planning on going to Europe in feb. as well. I was thinking of the Pyrennes in spain + france for a ski vacation. It would be peak season there so that kind of defeats the purpose of the cheap airfare. I hear Sicily is warmish, but might be Rainy.

Caroline,
We had to use vacation time in January and spent two weeks in Austria. Since we had to travel in January and we wanted to go to Europe, we decided to go someplace that "does" winter well. We had an excellent trip and everything was magical in the snow. The sun shines much of the winter in Austria so it wasn't grey like Germany. We went to Vienna, Salzburg and Innsbruck. Vienna and Salzburg were our favorites. Just pack warm clothes and boots.

Feb of 2001 I was in Madiera. Feb of 2002 I was in Isle of Mull, Scotland. Feb of 2003 it will be Munster, Germany....IMHO any place in Europe is best to visit according to your interests...so,pick where would you LIKE to go and then just go there. Never mind the weather, it's the place that counts most!

Judy, no longer in Germany
