Driving from Sweden to Frankfurt, 7 days, what not to miss??
My husband and I will be in Germany mid-March and will pick up our new car in Trollhattan, Sweden and drive to northern Germany via ferry at We have never been to Germany before. I want to see Heidelberg for sure and will be dropping the car off in Frankfurt for our return flight. What should I see in between? I have considered Cologne, Hamburg and Munich but don't think I can see five cities. Please help!

hi there,
well, You did not tell what You are interessted in. Anyway - Munich is not really on Your route.
Hamburg is a nice town, dont miss a harbour tour.
Cologne (the Dom) or Duesseldorf (the old town) are also worth.
Heidelberg - hm, not my favorite.
If You are coming rom, the north and wanna see nice old towns, dont miss Goslar (perhaps also do a mining tour there).
Hildesheim is worth a stop.
And going along the valley of the Rhine (Ruedesheim, Bingen area) or do a sidestep along the river Mosel.
have fun

Thanks so much for your help! I have to see Heidelberg though. I have family ten minutes away and they want me to stop over for a day or so. Munich is probably out of the way. I will look into cologne and goslar!
Thank you

I don't know how you'll make it into Germany - if you either take the ferry from Roedby (Denmark) into Puttgarden (Germany)- check
http://www.scandlines.dk/eprise/Scan...page/Front_COM
or if you take the ferry between Trelleborg and Luebeck-Travemuende (there is an overnight one that might be an option) - check
http:// www.ttline.com
- you might wish to include a stop in Luebeck, which is a very well preserved medieval city about 40 miles North of Hamburg.
This option would not apply if you take the ferry from Gothenburg to Kiel

as Luebeck would be quite out of the way.
