Doing the happy dance!

Just booked flights for April/May 2013! So excited that this trip is officially happening!

Paid out the wazoo, but got tired of waiting. There will probably be a fare sale at some point, but I wanted to go ahead and get some of my other reservations locked in, and just decided it was worth the peace of mind to book now. $1250 each - ouch! But we successfully booked open-jaw itineraries, into Venice and out of Rome, without terrible connections. (Coming from Jackson Hole, it can be quite a feat to get a decent itinerary.)

So thanks to everyone for all of your help planning - and a preemptive thanks for the future advice that I will need as well!

Congratulations craze!

Doing the Happy Dance right along with you.

I booked my SLC - Palermo round trip last month and had to pay $1500 and fight with Delta to get connections longer than their legal minimum of 1 hr 40 min. - which we all know results in a nearly 0% success rate.....if they change my flight times so I end up with shorter connection times they will really have a fight on their hands!

Flying just isn't what is ued to be.

Happy planning! Where are you going?

Dayle

We are flying Air France and have a 1 hour 35 minute connection to Rome. Cross your fingers!! HaHa! We are going to take an Easyjet flight to Palermo and then another Catania to Paris. We are so happy when we are planning a trip. Good Luck with your flight!!

Glad so many of us are getting plans together!

I actually chose to book the flight with the shorter connection time. I'll probably miss my final flight because of it, but there appear to be lots of flights scheduled that day from Munich to Venice, so hopefully, we get on one! I liked that option better than a guaranteed 5 hour wait after landing in Zurich. And I'm thinking we might land early since flight times are so padded these days, so that might help with the connection...of course that kind of thinking means that I will definitely be late!

Cheers to everyone and their exciting trips ahead!

Now I'm REALLY doing the happy dance! Our last connecting flight was cancelled by the airline on the itinerary we booked months ago, and they couldn't find anything else right away to re-book us. I was looking up new flights in the meantime and of course, they are now $100/pp cheaper. So I asked if I could cancel my existing reservation due to the change...the airline agreed...and I am now re-booked at $1150/pp (versus $1250/pp originally) with one less connection on the way over. Woo-hoo! That never happens!

Only two months ago. I know there are many of us spring travelers who must be getting excited!

caze17,

How lucky for you! No, that never happens.

Of course my flight times have changed now too and there were no better options than just sticking with their change. So now I have a 3.5 layover in Rome before starting the long trek home to SLC. Would they let me leave Palermo the night before and then fly out from Rome, oh no of course not. A last night in Rome would have been wonderful!

I can certanly identify with you on the "can't get there from here" comment!

Buon viaggio!

Dayle...sorry that you did not experience the same luck. I'm sure your trip will be wonderful nonetheless.

And yes, getting out of our area is not the easiest thing in the world!
