Do I Use A Eurailpass Day to go from Rome to Florence/ Paris to Reims?
Hi! Can anyone advise me about the title? It's about breakeven to either pay for the one-way ticket, or use the pass and save...or is it? Who's done it and what do you advise? I'm travelling with my elderly mother, so I can't be as spontaneous as I might normally. There's always the thing about reservations! And we have a fairly tight schedule, reservations to make and precious time to see all. Any tips/advise is very much appreciated.
The same with Paris/Reims. This seems to be a bit more expensive w/out the pass?!
Thanks again!

Hi Ramalama - If you are only doing those 2 journeys by rail you do not need a rail pass.
The Rome-Florence service is very frequent. ES trains take only 1hr 35'.
For timetables see:

Hope this helps ...

Hi R,
Have you entered your entire itinerary at www.railsaver.com and clicked "only if it saves money"?
Also note that you will have to purchase seat reservations on the fast trains (ES*, TGV..).
www.voyages-sncf.com has PREMS fares of 15E for P/R.
Rome/Florence is only 26E in cl at http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html.

Thanks! I've never been to the Italian train site. To answer the question about putting the entire trip in the website...I'll file this away because we've reserved everything (sleepers, reserved seats in France, etc) thru BETS...again because I'm travelling with my mom and don't want much down time.
So, if I get you right, even with reservations for the faster trains, we should be ok in making these reservations a few days before? Or can I make them while in another city, say a week out? It's not like this is a sleeper or anything, but I just don't want the uncertainty with my mom along.
Thanks for your time and interest!

a week ahead should be fine in my opinion unless it's during a day when there is something huge going on in whatever city you're going to and everyone needs to go. there are many trains doing this route daily.
