Day trip ideas

I am house sitting for 2 1/2 weeks in Bristol, UK and would like to take a few day trips, at least 1 or 2 days in London. Can anyone suggest a good personal guide service that features food? What areas do I want to stroll? I spent 5 days in and around London in Nov. of 2001. Where else should I visit, I will have a car, but will also take trains. Thank you

Re-Post Your Question "Day Trip Ideas from Bristol UK" - to get more experts in that area to notice it. They may pass it by with your present title. And tag it UK not default Europe.

Cheers!

There is no reason you need any sort of guide to visit/tour London. And you won't want or need a car in London so save using the car for visiting areas like Somerset/Wiltshire/the Cotswolds.

There is no need to re-post really since this does have a UK tag.

As for company -- check out London Walks. Many really terrific walking tours every single day year round and you don't need to pre book.

With that long in Bristol you have ALL sorts of options for day trips. Just a few: Salisbury, Stonehenge and Avebury; Lacock and Castle Combe; Cardiff, Tintern Abbey and Chepstow; Wells, Glastonbury and the Cheddar area; The southern Cotswolds:

And scads of others
