there are some good tips there and also if you scroll down to the comments section there is a link to a news clip about organized Romanian crime and what the French police are doing to try and stop it.

Oh, those petition people are all over Rome and Venice, too, especially in Campo San Stefano.

What a nightmare!

I pretend I am Russian and say nyet, nyet!

I was confronted by the gold ring azzholes at least 5 times when last in Paris.

The Countess de Billy tells me that under Marshal Petain, these people would have hanged in the Tuileries.

I told her, well under Petain everyone was hanged in the Tuileries!

I think the poor dear is getting senile.

I just did it again and it is there. Did you scroll down to where it says 72 comments? It kind of looks like it ends without any comments but if you scroll once more and wait a sec it will say 72 comments and then it is the 13th one.

Mimi if you still can't find it then go to the thread titled ParisianPickpockets, I believe it is number 43 here.
Go right to last reply and scroll up about three until you see the entry by NYCFoodSnob, she has provided that same link there.

cigalechanta, may I ask what is ttt? I see it often but waited to ask someone that I know will respond politely.

I like Lebovitz, even if I don't have the time to make most of his recipes.

I encountered those asking me to sign a petition for the deaf.
They looked American, spoke English. I was about to sign til a Frenchman, nearby, shook his head saying, no, no

Water pistols are your friends, folks, if you're of a paranoid nature. Nothing like blotting out all the ink on a petition or squirting some Rom dude in the eye when he tries to give you a ring.

but what if the petitioner was legit, you'd be in trouble.
