Croatia or the Balearic Islands?
I'm planning my 40th birthday trip for either June or July this year. I'm torn between the Balearic Islands or Croatia. They both look so beautiful! we'll be traveling for about 12 days.
My traveling partner has some friends who live in Majorca so that is a big plus.
We are looking for beautiful scenery, great food and wine, nice beaches, culture, and some handsome men never hurt. We aren't huge party goers but still enjoy some night life here and there. We consider ourselves young 40 yr olds who are sophisticated and full of energy. Any suggestions on which destination that would best fit us?
btw - I'm a single female and am traveling with another female if that makes any difference. We are savvy travelers and love adventure!
any help is greatly appreciated!!

LKL,
That is a great question and one that is hard for me to answer since I really love both of your choices.
Croatia is so beautiful! Do you like lavender flowers? If so, you're in luck because the harvest begins in July. On the island of Hvar, the hillsides are covered in pine forests, with vineyards, olive groves, fruit orchards and lavender fields. The weather will be warm that time of year with mild winds with the smell of lavender everywhere! It's really lovely. The people are also very friendly, food is great, and it's not overloaded with tourists as with most European destinations. It's making a big come back so you might want to hit it before it becomes too popular.
The Balearic Islands are also gorgeous! I met my husband on the island of Majorca 11 years ago so it holds a special place in my heart. The islands have wonderful beaches, they are rich in culture and the people.........the people! what can I say? They are wonderful (kudos to my husband). It's definitely a popular destination spot and probably a little more crowded than Croatia will be. The weather will be similar but slightly warmer: high 70's to mid 80's.
I hope this helps! I'm starting to have withdrawals now. Have fun on your trip whichever glorious destination you choose!
Cheers!

Never been to Croatia but Ibiza is hands down my favorite (and no it wasn't for the hard core partying that they are known for). Some of the most gorgeous natural scenery I have ever seen.
Good luck choosing!
