We will be in Dubrovnik in late june. I am looking for guides for a 2 hour or so walking tour of:
--dubrovnik
--mostar
split.
Does anyone have recommendations? Rick Steve's mentions alma Elezovic for dubrovnik.

We will rent a car and drive to mostar and then on to Split.
We are driving to Mostar on a Sunday from Dubrovnik. Lately are there long lines at the border?

Are many things closed on Sundays?

This is from "Take a Hike" on P8:

"In Dubrovnik, the first walk you have to take is around the city walls, but that’s for babies, only two kilometres. After that, a favourite walk is around the Lapad peninsula, or to the top of one of its highest points, Velika or Mala Petka. Very much more demanding is a walk up Mount Srđ (412m) – a two hour climb, but with the prospect of the city laid out at your feet as your reward. Konavle has some good walking routes taking in villages, peaks, remains and coastal vistas: pop into the tourist office in Cavtat for a map."

We got a walking tour of Dubrovnik through our apartment landlord. There were only 4 of us on a very busy day in Dubrovnik (5 cruise ships).

In Split we just walked to the Peristyle (in the old palace). That's where tours start from. We picked up a guide there, who took us (just the 2 of us) around the palace. He would have gone longer and farther but we were short for time.

I can't remember how much these tours cost but they were not expensive.

No guide needed, so easy to do it on your own with a little research.

In Mostar, go to the Fortuna Tours building and ask. It's on the east side of the river/bridge - and it's painted deep pink, you really can't miss it. I had a really good tour with Asim in 2007. In June Mostar will be very busy with visitors, so if you can get there early in the morning or stay in the early evening you'll enjoy it much more without have to press through crowds of hot people packed into the narrow streets.

As for Split, Rick Steves has a good DIY walking tour in his Croatia and Slovenia guidebook, and you can pick up other tours from the Tourist Office in the centre.

I enjoyed exploring Dubrovnik on my own and never felt I needed a guide there at all.

I booked a tour to Montenegro with Elite - they were recommended here, I found their website using google and booked online.

One thing to be aware of with the tours to Montenegro - especially the one that goes from Kotor to Cetinje - in an 11 hour day, you will spend around 7-8 hours on the bus.

In the past I have had a very nice young man 'do' my airport transfers, and he knows people/agencies who rent cars and also do day trips to places like Mostar, Korcula, the vineyards, and Montenegro. You could email him and ask...

I would love to take a day trip to Stol & Korcula also.

I am going to Dubrovnik in September but I will try to post my impression of the country when I come back.

My husband and I are actually in Dubrovnik now and spent yesterday with an amazing local guide who took us to Mostar, an oyster farm and the waterfalls. I know he does Montenegro too. I can't speak highly enough about our experience. He was extremely knowledgable, friendly and not pushy at all. It was like a friend showing us around. When I mentioned an interest in water polo hecgot on the phone and got his brother to getvus tickets for the match while we are here.

Zoran was recommended through an older post on here. We highly recommend him too. Worth every penny.
