We will be traveling to Copenhagen to embark on a Princess transatlantic cruise in September 2017. The cruise leaves from Copenhagen. We have never been to the city but have always wanted to visit, so our plan is to spend a week there prior to getting on the ship. I have been looking at apartments but cannot settle on the best area or company.

I have looked at the http://www.apartmentincopenhagen.com/ company but have not found any good or bad information on them. Has anyone ever used this company ? Are there other companies ? or should we just stay at the Marriott. I will say we are gold members at Marriott and will probably receive an upgraded room and breakfast will be included.

Additionally, are there specific place / things we should ensure we see while in the city.

Make sure you take a canal cruise. I would stay in Nyhaven area if using a hotel rather than at the Marriott.

We just came back and I posted a trip report. A week is a long time there. We were there for almost four days I think. really three and a half. and one day was to the Louisiana museum on the train. A week would be good though if you are planning on side trips.

I would just be sure to look into where in the Nyhaven area to stay . It is very touristy and noisy.But also very nice in the side streets. We stayed on the floating hotel CPH Living.

Copenhagen is a long weekend/short city break type of city so you might struggle to find enough to do/see for an entire week. If you are planning day trips, of which there are quite a few you could do, then a week might be fine.

The area you should try and stay in is the city centre which includes Nyhavn (note spelling) area. But you don't have to be limited to the Nyhavn area of the city, anywhere in the vicinty will be fine.

The Marriott is a great hotel actually esp if you get the waterfront view rooms. It is a 15-20 min walk to the city centre and Tivoli Gardens. It totally lacks any Danish character however, if that is what you would like, I'd look at other options eg any of the Guldsmeden chain of hotels, the Admiral, the Alexandra & many others.

Locationwise, hotels that are in a good spot are the Square, the Radisson Blu Royal (hotel famous for design), D'Angeleterre, Scandic Palace and many more which you can find plotted on a map if you look at sites like hotels.com or booking.com. The inner city area is called Indre By.

Thanks for all the answers. We will change our plans and make some stops in Germany before Copenhagen. I do want to be in the city center so I will loom at other hotels. We will probably go to munich or a few days them hamburg nd take the train to Copenhagen for 3 days
