My travel agent discouraged any Globus tour because we are under 55, suggesting a self guided tour. My neighbor, 65+, just returned from a Globus Italy and had a great time. Perhaps you're older?

We took a Globus tour all around Great Britain several years ago - 5 weeks - and it was well done.

I took a tour with them about two years ago and had a great time. I enjoyed it because almost everything was planned out for us. We did not have to worry about finding a hotel, or driving to a destination and getting lost. We had a tour guide that was fantastic. She spoke several languages and helped me a immensely when I had to find a doctor for a medical problem. My tour went to several popular points of interest, and we had a day here and there to explore on our own. If you want to experience as much as possible in a short amount of time, then I would recommend a their tour.

I sent my 19 year old daughter on a Globus Tour for her first solo trip out of the United States this summer. She did a 15 day tour of Great Britian and Ireland and had a terrific time. She was the youngest on the trip but commented the average age was around 35-40 yrs. Her only complaint was in many cities, the bus stopped in shopping areas and not in the tourist areas. She would definitely go again.

I have been on many tours in the last 11 years, including Globus Tours. As a tour operator, Globus is well organized, their guides are very knowledgeable, their bus drivers are excellent, and their buses are always in immaculate/new condition. The accomodations are usually quite good - at least Best Western in quality or higher. Tour members are predominantly retirees, however, there are often a few members under age 50. I myself, am in my 30's now and don't mind traveling with retirees since I'm really not a partier anyway. My main complaint with all tours is that they are such hard work - Go, Go, Go everyday for weeks. They are the best way, however, to see a lot in a little time without worrying about language, transportation, etc. If you don't like structure, I would not recommend an organized tour.

We always travel independently but, when planning a trip to China, saw the need for a guided tour. After thoroughly investigating many companies, Globus was our choice. We were traveling as a trio, my wife and myself and our twenty-four year old son. The tour couldn't have been better--good hotels, decent food, excellent buses and excellent tour guides--both the guide who was with us all the time and the local guides for each area. Our son preplanned an early departure from the tour and we strayed from the tour itinerary in one case--all was easy to work out. Go with it!!!

For the best possible experience, get yourself a good travel guide and read it. Review the itinerary. Then, look up the hotels included in your package and consider their locations and amenities. If everything meets with your preferences, go for it! Otherwise, shop around. Check out Trafalgar.

Hi,
I second everything positive about the Globus Tour Company. We spent two weeks in the United Kingdom May 1996. We leave early November of this year for an independent stay (arranged thru Globus) and then will join one of their tours for 2 more weeks. We had mixed ages in 1996, however no one in the twenties.
The selection of restaurants was very good to excellent. Our guide was better than excellent if that be possible.
Happy traveling
Toni

I've been on many Globus Tours to Canada, USA, Spain, Portugal. I am 31 and love them !! Yes often I'm one of the youngest but there has always been others to chum with. I've met girls in their 30's backpacking from Australia, honeymooners in their 20's, families, divorcees looking to party it up, and young professionals like myself. I tried the Contiki company for 18 - 35's only, but found all the people wanted to get drunk, I would rather save my travel money and get drunk at home. Let's see the sites!! Your travel agent is in the dark ages, ten years ago only seniors went on a organized trips, today lots of people go. You need a new travel agent who is willing to work for you. Is it possible she makes more commission sending you on a air hotel package? As someone working in the travel industry I am disgusted with your travel agents comments. She has some work to do to keep up the the changing attitudes towards travel. Find a new agent, and take the tour!!

Globus Tours are great. We took a two week Highlands and Islands Tour of Scotland. The pace
was comfortable. We never felt rushed. There was
always time to see a site thoroughly. Our guide
was highly knowledgeable and a good tour director.
We also took a five day tour of southern England
and we were afraid that that would be a letdown
after Scotland, but it was fun, too. The group
was a little younger on that tour, but we enjoyed
the older people. They were all great fun!
