Colmar, France - What do do for family visit?

I'll be taking my family (wife and kids - 12, 19, 21) for a day trip to Colmar from our home base in Germany's Black Forest. We'll arrive at Colmar late morning and will stay until dark. The town looks pretty so we'll definitely spend much time strolling around. Any recommendations on other things to do in Colmar and the surrounding communities? We'll be there on June 11th.

People usually go to Colmar in order to visit the Unterlinden Museum with the Issenheimer Altar.
Places in the surroundings: Ribeauville, Riquewihr, Hochkoenigsbourg, Ecomusee d'Alsace......

well there is a cheesy large punt ride you could do on a little canal. You could go to Equisheim which is nearby, and a multiple ring defended town. If it is a sunny day go up on the Vosges to the ballon d'alsace and run around, look at Alps in distance. Hire bikes from close to the town station and ride around.

Bilbo mentioned the Colmar punt ride on one of the littles canal. It is quite photogenic and the family just might enjoy it...here's a typical pic.

Thanks for the input. Is the punt ride a walk-up and purchase tickets affair or should I book on-line, if there's a website? Any recommendations for lunch and dinner? We're not into fancy but do want o try local fare.
