Cheapest Flight to Europe Right Now?

Is anyone finding any great deals? Which airline? To what city? For travel when?

I'd like to go with some BFFs next spring, but I'm not seeing anything to the major cities for under $600 or $700.

Flights from either BOS or NYC to London can be had for $550+. That is probably about as good as you will get.

Thanks, TG. I'm seeing the same thing, and estimated to $6XX or $7XX with the junk fees.

No great secret out there, I suppose!

Obvious choices are Tuesdays or Wednesdays away from holidays but we are finding a lot higher fares this year.

Lufthansa and United are having good sales right now to Europe for the winter / early spring. You have to book in the next few weeks and depart by April 2. I'm looking at fares on either airline from SFO to Munich or Frankfurt and they are around $600-$700.

What junk fees? The fares I am seeing are all-in fares. And I am unaware of any major add-on fees. You should still get two bags. Food should still be free, even if barely edible. You will need to pay for alcohol on some flights. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Last week I bought Air France PHL-CDG non-stop for $685 in late March. Now it's down to $651!

BA usually has a sale in November. Deals can include a few nights hotel. I think SAS does a sale in December, too.

Lufthansa has fares EWR-MUC for $525 all told for January/Feb. Travel on Thurs and Monday seems to get the best fares.

Aer Lingus <$500 JFK-DUB on many days in March. I don't know if you think Dublin is a "major city" or not.

Continental EWR-LHR is $577 for many dates (Sun - Wed) in March. $20-40 more for other dates.

Thanks, all! I think I'm finding some of the same ones.

I'm using miles for my flight, but my BFFs want something in the $400s to $500s. Trying to marry my miles to some of the lower fare flights is a challenge, since my miles are on Delta.

I NEVER take more than one bag and a purse, so the two bags are no big deal to me.

No free bevs??? The horror! The horror! I'm glad to go without if they'll reduce the fare. More than a couple of them makes me lag...

Standard awards are available on Continental's EWR-LHR on most days in March. You can use DL's miles on those flights.

Free drinks? How many do you drink on each flight? Even at $5/each, how much are you actually spending extra?

You didn't mention what city you are flying out of.

Dallas to Rome has midweek fares as low as $600 roundtrip on US Air. That is not any lower than the fares you list but in the past Rome usually was higher than London or Paris but currently it is cheaper.
I would start a search using the ITA site. You might also search on Kayak and I've seen some nice packages on the European Destinations web site.

Vister,

We're all coming from different cities and will likely meet in Atlanta, Chicago, Washington DC or NYC (JFK, LGA or Newark) to get our plane across the pond.

So, that's what I meant by the "any of our major cities," as we don't really care as long as the transatlantic portion is the best rate we can find. Then, we'll be on our own to get to/from that major city departure point.

Thanks!

Got an email from USAirways today with fares below 500. I saw Dublin, Milan and London mentioned, but there were more cities. I don't know the dates.

I was looking to go to shannon, ireland in february and Im not really seeing anything for less than $630 right now. But last month it was over $700! It seems the worse the economy gets, the lower the airline prices So something good is coming out of this crisis. I live in atlanta so I was looking from there to shannon.
The price seems to go down around $5 or more every day and Im checking on kayak.com(they give you the price with taxes included which other search engines dont).

I just booked a flight from Shreveport, LA to MXP departing on March 29 and returning from Nice on April 8 for a total of $734 on AA. That is a good price from this part of the US.
