Changing planes at JFK--American 236 to FCO

We booked our Italy tickets through Alaska Air on American. Both flights are American. We are leaving Seattle and arriving at JFK at 4:00 pm, and our connecting Rome flight leaves at 5:20 pm. I am a little nervous about only 1:20 between flights, even if I didn't have three small children in tow (which I will in this case). Does anyone know if these flights will be within the same terminal? From what I have found online, there are two terminals at JFK that serve American...not sure what the walk/ride would be like between the two if that was what it turned out to be.

Any thoughts from frequent JFK travelers would be appreciated. thanks!

No don't disregard. I have almost the same question. Changing planes coming from London, going onto Orlando!

Are both yuor flights on American? How much tme do you have?

the challenge you have is tht coming from London you will have to go through Immigration - which can be 20 minutes - or an hour. Then pick up your luggage, recheck and go through security again. If one airline has sold you a single ticket it is legal and their problem if a delay makes youmis your flight.

If different tickets - it's you problem - and could get very expensive.

If you give speifics people can better advise you.

Hi Avalon,

if you visit the Air Travel forum you can see my cross-posted question. The user who answered me said that while American used to use 2 terminals at JFK, they now only have one (terminal 8). They felt that the best case for me would be walking 20 feet, the worst case walking 10 minutes.

In your case, though, with the immigration issue...I can't say for sure.

hth,

Are you aware of the JFK runway closure? That could throw a spanner into the works, but hopefully it won't:
