Take a train to all three cities - start with Budapest then Vienna then Prague and fly home from Prague. I would take the tour first and then travel on your own after the tour.

I would not find this itinerary to be too much traveling but you have to decide that for yourself.

How much time do you have in addition to the tour? Without that it's impossible to know if you have the time to go to 3 additional cities. (Traveling between them is easy and all have strong tourist infrastructures.)

There are trains from Ljubljana to Budapest. They take about 10 hours. You can also fly.

You have 2 weeks total? If that's all the time you have then you cannot visit 3 additional cities plus your tour. If the 2 weeks covers Prague, Budapest, and Vienna then that would be fine.

A friendly note: It's best to give all the information in the beginning to get the best answers. I thought you meant is it too much traveling, not is it too much traveling within a particular time. Very different.

I've searched for flights to Budapest from LJU and they seem very high for some reason. Csn you suggest any airlines other than Adria that I may try? I don't mind a 10 hour train ride but would prefer to fly.
