I'm not 100% positive, but I believe they are. I plan to use it to plug in my portable GPS system. Anyone else care to chime in?

Yes. The one thing that is standard in the world is twelve volt dc in cars.
There was a time of six volt, but it is gone.

In addition to the Six Volts, there once was also Positive Earth. Now, there are very good scientific reasons why you don't want your earth to be positive¹, but somehow it took the Brits sixty years to catch on to why the rest of the world was doing it that other way. Maybe someday they'll drive on the right side of the road (yes, the opposite of "right" is both "left" and "wrong&quot.

Naaah.

¹ They're mostly electrochemical, but I learned a long time ago that some kinds of talk aren't appreciated in a travel forum.

...the operative words being once was...

Today no problem and as I said on another thread you can have the best of both worlds and simply use the car charger not only for mobile phones but for ipods and battery chargers with a cheap $6 dual voltage do hickey readilly available from places such as cellphoneshop.net.
