CANNES ADVICE PLEASE
Hi I have just joined this forum and yet I am now asking numerous questions. I am visiting Cannes this year as part of a cruise stop but not finding any helpful websites for Cannes. Does anybody have any advice for two families with children (14, 10 and 6) to do in Cannes for a day. Thanks.

Hi Bernice,
last year DH and I stopped in Cannes for a day on a cruise ship as well. We were on the Liberty. Anyway, we took the train to Nice instead of staying in Cannes. WE had been to Nice before and really enjoyed it, and didn't see that there was to much to do in Cannes. I think it was a 20 - 30 minute ride along the coast to Nice. You might consider that instead of staying in Cannes.

- Walk along la Croisette. If you like, go swimming. Walk into the grand hotels: Carlton, Martinez, Majestic. Drink a glass of champagne in the bar of the Majestic. (We always did with our children)
- Walk through the old town (Suquet) and up Mont Chevalier (view).
- Drive to Super-Cannes (4km from Cannes, phantastic view).
- Take a boat to the Iles de Lérins. See ancient fortress ("The man with the iron mask." and monastery. Enjoy walking across the islands.
- Rent a car and drive along the corniche de l'Esterel. One of the world's most scenic drives: Red rocks, green vegegation, incredibly blue sea. Stop at some of the numerous parking lots and go down to the beaches. Go swimming there.
- Make a short drive to Mougins. Have lunch in one of the beautiful outdoor restaurants.
- Make a tour to Antibes. Visit the old town and the Picasso museum. Go swimming at the beach in Juan-les-Pins.
- Make a trip to Biot and visit the Leger-museum.
These are more than enough opportunities for one day. Of course, you can combine two or three thins. For me, the drive along the corniche de l'Esterel is most spectacular. This is the very core of the Cote d'Azur (there is the coast where the water is azure blue indeed).

Hi Bernice,
We visited Cannes with our kids several years ago and we took the ferry to Ile Ste Marguerite. This is an island where "The Man in the Iron Mask" was imprisoned. It was a fascinating afternoon. You can enter his cell and learn of the history of the island. My children, who were a bit older at that time than yours are, really enjoyed it. I am sure you will have a lovely time whatever you chose. Good luck and Bon Voyage!
