Ca' Dogaressa, or Hotel Antico Dodge?

Has anyone had previous experience with these two hotels? If so, will you please tell me what you liked, didn't like or if you would stay there again.

Thanks.

Morgiesmom Robin,

I don't have any experience but I wanted to touch base with you. You and I are both taking our graduating daughters to Paris/Italy for a gift. How is your itinerary coming?

I am just getting started and I have to admit I AM TOTALLY OVERWHELMED! I have never traveled to Europe and my husband usually is the tour guide but we will be leaving him at home.

Hi muffin2514,

My plans are moving along. Some faster than others. All the hotels are booked, the car from the airport is booked (arrival, the departure is a shuttle thru the hotel we're staying at), I've booked a guide for Paris, purchased plane tickets from Paris to Venice, and I'm stashing money like a fiend. I'm also going to prepay for all the hotels if I can. Some just asked for a deposit, but with the dollar continuing as it is, I've decided the h*** with it. I've already e-mailed one tonight. Some might think me crazy, but one hotel has gone up $92 since I booked it. I've decided to go for it. If I had to cancel depending on the time frame, I would have to pay whatever anyhow (different $ for every hotel) I would hope IF the hotel gave me a hard time my credit card company would help me.

This is my third time to Europe, and my husband has never gone. The first time was with my best friend (we were 27 and too dumb to know what we were in for, although I don't regret one second), the second trip was with my oldest daughters school trip (EF Tours) and this one is with my youngest daughter and her best friend.

I'm the tour guide this time.

I also did a daily itinerary (sp?) for us and my daughters friends parents. I'm not going to be hitler about it, but I think they (the girls) do need to have some goals per city. I don't want them to have the idea that they can "fall out of bed whenever and see what the day brings".

Some free days, some not.

I'd like to talk to you without posting my life on this web site. Is there a way to exchange e-mail addresses without posting to the world?

i'll butt in and say that you can create a new free email acct using Yahoo or hotmail or whatever, and post that here. Then you can exchange for real email addrs. (or not), and no harm done.

Robin,

I am so glad you responded. I am just getting started with all the planning and my head is swimming!!!! I have never been to Europe and since I have married my 2nd husband (Mr. Wonderful who is sending my daughter and I on this trip), I have lost my knack to travel alone. I know my DD and I will be standing on a street wondering where the heck are we supposed to go!!

We have fortunately booked our flights and hotels. We are staying at the Le Meredian Montparnasse which is a little out of the way but we used points so it is what it is. I am having trouble working my itinerary to make sure we are not jumping all over the city. I would prefer keeping it organized.

We have also extended our trip a bit. We will be in Paris 5 days, Vienna 4 days and Rome 5 days. I have a cousin who lives in Vienna so we decided it was silly to go in that direction and not go see her.

I would love to share thoughts with you too. You may use [email protected]. Looking forward to hearing from you, Michelle
