Brugge - Return from Damme

We'll be in Brugge for most of two days the middle of next month (June).

I'd like to fit in a side trip to Damme if possible. I'd like to take the paddle boat Lamme Goedzak.

The problem is that I may want to go fairly late in the afternoon. About 4PM. The last boat back from Damme to Brugge is 5:20PM.

How else can we get back from Damme around 7PM?

Thanks

We always rent bikes and ride to Damme and beyond -- one of my favorite things to do. I think you could rent the bikes and take them on the boat, then ride back!

Thanks.

Not a bad idea to ride back by bike.

You might email your hotel in Brugge and ask them if they know if you can take the bikes on the boat --that could be a problem, especially if that little boat is crowded. Frankly if the boat doesn't work, I'd consider doing the bike ride both ways -- it really isn't far. We spent all day and went miles and miles further, had lunch and came back. In addition to stopping at Damme, we also stopped at an open windmill.

I phoned the boat and they said the captain decides based on how many people are on the boatd whether or not to permit bikes.

Question: Is the bike trip to Damme a scenic route, along a canal, and is it easy/flat for those over 65?

Any stops along the way for lunch, coffee, beer. What is there to do in Damme?

Several years ago, I walked to Damme, had a lovely lunch at a restaurant along the canal and walked back. The walk is along the canal and flat. CJ

What is there to do in Damme?

You eat! Damme is known for its restaurants. If I can think of a specific place I will let you know. Eels with green herbs are a specialty (paling in het groen).
Also, lots of bookshops.
So, cycle there, eat a good lunch, then back.
