Brighton-dont't go.

Just got back from a lovely trip to England-with the exception of Brighton.
Don't go. It's like an Atlantic City. If you do, don't stay at the Regency Square Hotel. I had an awful experience. The place was a dump, it was expensive, and the owners were ruder than I could of ever imagined. Enjoy England-just don't bother going to Brighton.

My e-mail is [email protected] if anyone want's more info.

What does "just like Atlantic City" mean? Does Brighton have casinos and mega hotels??? Too many tourists? Can you provide more details?

Don't go to Brighton? You're kidding right? We just visited Brighton last month and really enjoyed it. I wouldn't stay there for a lengthy stay, but the three days we were there were great. Then again, it all comes down to what you like to do, and what do you expect from the place. My wife and I shopped the lanes (she loves the cat store there), and Mark's and Spencer. We spent some time down walking along the beach. We had dinner at the restaurant at the Stakis Metropole, which was a little expensive (what isn't in the U.K.) but was one of the best meals we had on our entire vacation. We stayed at the Grand hotel and had a huge really nice room on the 4th floor over looking the ocean. I suggest staying only at the Grand or the Stakis Metropole. The Brighton Thistle would probably be ok. To make the trip really worth while, visit Eastborne which is also on the coast. Stay at the Grand hotel there (which is even nicer than the Grand in Brighton) and go sight seeing at the "Seven Sisters" sea-side cliffs. Some say they're larger and more beautiful than the Cliffs of Dover. I don't get the Atlantic City comparison to Brighton. There is no gambling and not near as many tourists.

I agree with David. Living not too far from Atlantic City, I truly dislike it and could not compare Brighton to it. I liked Brighton. We only stayed for a day via the train from London. We liked the little shops and the amusement pier was rather interesting. We were a bit confused as to the beach and the big stones(no sand there). But we did find it fun and would recommend it. Went in Sept and didn't seem overly crowded.

I disagree too, Brighton is the perfect day trip from London and is nothing like Atlantic City. It is well worth the visit to see Queen Victorias Summer Palace and have a nice pub lunch.

I haven't been to Brighton yet, but do plan on going at some point. I don't see whats that bad about Atlantic City. The casinos are alot of fun if you have money to burn, the shows are great, the food is pretty good, the area has alot of history and offers some great attractions. O.k. there are some tacky things, but there are everywhere you go. What is so different from Las Vegas? I've been to both and like AC better. There is plenty to keep you busy. I think much of travel is attitude and expectation.

I enjoy Brighton, but then, I enjoy Atlantic City. I just got back from England and spent my last day in Brighton. I agree that you probably don't want to spend a lot of time there, but I feel it's definitely worth visiting.
