Booking flight to italy strategies?
We will be flying to Italy June 15 and returning from Zurich Switzerland July 1. Does anyone have suggestions for good websites or special time of the week or year to book these air flights? Thanks again.

www.kayak.com for flights, but if you have any frequent flyer miles it is best way to go.

I think you are entering this transaction assuming there is a a set way to book flights to accomplish some goals you have not elaborated. In a market based analytics laden industry, any fixed day, time of year, etc rule, that is deemed advantageous to the buyer is counteracted by even superior grasp of the market intelligence by the vendors to make sure maximum revenue is extracted. One has to observe which way the market is going using a tool like kayak fare alert to look at many different scenarios - different dates, different arrival/departure airports, to identify the places the market is happens to be weak. If your dates and destination airports are rigid, you have little opportunities as kybourbon noted.
Just as important is how the flight arrangement dovetails to the ground segment. Even if you find great flights, if that requires booking an accommodation in a city hosting a major event where the prices are increased 4x the normal prices, you will be losing big time overall.

If you know for sure that these are your dates, start looking at ticket prices now, and you will see that they do indeed fluctuate over time (up and down and then UP again). When you see a price you can live with, buy it!

skyscanner.com is my favourite. It will compare many airlines, even charter and low-cost instead of just the "big names"
I would recommend airlines like Ryanair, Alitalia, and EasyJet as the 3 (likely) cheapest.
