Never been - going in 2 weeks. Have read and heard lots of good about Hotel Arts (not in town), the Ritz hotel and have booked Hotel Claris for myself (in town). Have a meeting taking place at Hotel Rey Juan Carlos. Sorry no first hand experience (yet), but lots of reading, calls, e-mails on forums like these.

I stayed at the Ritz for 2 days last month. Very posh, good service, good rooms and good location. Pricey--but
no complaints. Can't speak about any
of the others, but Ritz has to be at top of the list.

Do you want to stay at a "ritzy" hotel or a greatlocated, well priced, very good hotel? I love the Gallery Hotel right around the Corner from La Pedrera one of Gaudi's great buildings on Passeig de Gracia, a beautiful avenue.

Just stayed four nights at the Ritz. Great hotel, great service, great location. Concierge one of the best ever. Only drawback was no pool. Others in our group were at the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos. Great pool, great rooms, good service - location not quite as good.
We stayed at the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos last summer. It's a large, beautiful hotel. Our room was wonderful - large, very modern and had an outstanding bathroom. Restaurants were good. It is a cab ride or subway if you're adventurous from downtown (Las Ramblas)
The hotel is l;ocated a little out of the way near the college, but it's a very nice area.

Thanks for your advises. Finally I decided to choose Hotel Claris, which is part of "Small Luxury hotels in the world".

If you want an established hotel in the centre of town - the Ritz. For a modern hotel in the Olympic Village area - the Arts.

We stayed several nights at the Claris and really enjoyed it. There's a wonderful pool on the rooftop as well as restaurant. Ours was a good sized room -- high up -- no traffic noise. The breakfast included a variety of Spanish specialities (excellent) as well as bacon. eggs etc. Don't miss the museum on the 2nd floor. The hotel's location is good and the service friendly and prompt.
Hi again,
I posted earlier. Just returned from Barcelona. We enjoyed the Hotel Claris and felt it was a good choice. Some rooms have "interior views" - not too exciting - junior suites. You may ask for a different view. Great location! Have fun.
