Best German Food in Zurich

I have decided to eat and shop through Europe. Atleast, I won't be grumpy and I will be well dressed...I have a flight out of Zurich staying at Zum Storchen on the Limat River. A nice hearty german fare restaurant? Any thoughts.

I don't think German cuisine is too popular in Switzerland. How about a Swiss restaurant?

oops, that should be Bierhalle Wolf--hearty german dishes at very reasonable prices-not fancy or catering to tourists.

Go to www.zuerich.com and check under gastronomy for a great list of restaurants.
Highly reco:
Walliser Kanne
Kronenhalle
Raclette Stube
Veltlinerkeller and
Zeughauskeller!

A piggyback question - - my niece and nephew have two hours between trains at Zurich Hauptbahnhof on an all-day train ride from Salzburg to Paris - - if you were them where would you find a meal very near the Hbf?

A venerated vegetarian restaurant with 100+ years of history is the Hiltl, about 10-12 minutes from the HB. Sit down dinners upstairs, popular weigh-buffet downstairs, attached Konditorei with delish pastries.

Or for a FANCY treat, stay on the train (or catch one of the many SBahn trains from the HB) to the Stadelhofen stop at the southern end of Zuerich and dine at Cafe Felix!
