Best fireworks near Avignon on Bastille Day?
I will be in Avignon on Bastille Day and would like to know the best display of fireworks within about an hour's drive. The more specific you can be about where to get the best view of them, the better.
Thanks in advance!

Is there some reason you don't want to just stay in AVignon? They had them last year in August for some commemoration of some other event, but usually have them on 14 july. I've only been there for that event in Marseille, which were good enough, but that's too far. I know who has them, though, within 50 km -- St Remy, Sorgues, Beaucaire, Cavaillon, Carpentras, Eyguieres and Arles. Last Year Cavaillon had them on 7/13.
From what I've heard, Avignon's fete is pretty spectacular, they have a custom of a torch parade through town down to the river banks, and the fireworks are then put off and are pretty good. Not sure why you don't want to stay for that, unless yo uknow they aren't doing them this year, either.
St Remy has a lot of events that day, also, bull stuff (and not BS)--bulls in the streets, exhibition bullfights, etuff like that (where they don't kill them). And fireworks.

Thank you for your quick and informative reply, Christina!
Apologies that I accidentally gave the wrong impression. I'm happy to see fireworks in Avignon or anywhere within about an hour's drive if there are better fireworks displays elsewhere.
I'll try to look up details about the other places you mentioned. So, thank you for providing that information.
Even so, your description of the festivities in Avignon sounds spectacular and, of course, very convenient! If you know of other details about them, I would very much appreciate learning them.

I just now learned that this year there will be no fireworks on Bastille Day in Avignon. Instead, they will be on August 25 to celebrate the Commemoration of the liberation of Avignon.

Oops! The website explaining that the fireworks would not take place actually did not provide the year. However, I could tell from the day (rather than the date) that it is not referring to 2016. So, maybe the fireworks do take place in Avignon on Bastille Day in 2016. More research to do but I've already done a lot and, so far, can't find anything definitive.

There is a huge grassy plain along the Rhône where people gather in Avignon to see the fireworks shot from the Pont Saint Bénézet. I have seen them there two or three times.
People on the island directly across from the ruins of the bridge would also have an excellent view.
