Dun Ri, Kingston House, Ben View. all at the bottom of town so easy walking distance after a night enjoying yourselves. there are other options. To be honest I can only think of One or Two I wouldn't use in town, one that's well above my pay grade and there are lots of good one's I don't aim for because I can't walk far and like a drink if I'm out for the night.

Also consider the Alcock&Browne, Not a fan of Foyles although the Marconi restaurant is getting decent reports over the past 12 months or so.

Give me a short list and I'l tel you what I think.

Stayed at the Quay House several years ago. We loved it. Julia and Paddy were great hosts but,as Tony said, there are several good places in Clifden.

Thank you, tony2phones and historytraveler. There is availability at Ben View House, so I think that is where we'll rest our heads while in Connemara for a few days. The pictures online aren't very good, but it looks to get positive reviews from people traveling with children, so we are going to book it. I hope it's not too noisy being in town and all, but we are willing to risk it for convenience. No late nights for us with the kids, but we plan on going out for music and drinks early so being able to walk home is wonderful! Any pub recommendations for music or places for dinner? Thanks!

Ben View is the bottom (eastern) end of town well out of the way of any noise (Clifden isn't that noisy anyway)

Lunch, Mannions. Nice pub with a good kids menu. There are a number of good cafe's in town well. Evening meals, Manions again, the Marconi in Foyles as said earlier.. I prefer to eat rather than pay so the well known Foodie place doesn't get my custom.

Lowrys is a great traditional music pub, depending when you are going to be in Clifden?? there might be early music sessions somewhere in town. Kings or Guy's are other good options.

Dan Ohara's might be an interesting place for the children depending on age? there are some nice beaches Dogs Bay and a couple of Coral beaches we aim for with the grandkids on the way down towards Roundstone.
