Well, this may seem silly, but-- <BR> <BR>I'm assuming that batteries are the same in the UK as in the US, so if we need to buy more batteries for our discman or camera we can find them at, say, Boots. Am I correct, or shall we load up on them here first? <BR> <BR>Thanks!

Even though batteries are readily available everywhere, I bring extras in my pocket or camera bag anyway. Wouldn't want them to go dead at the Top of the Tour Eiffel, or on a long train ride with gorgeous scenery, for example.

One difference is that mercury batteries still seem to be available in Europe whereas they are not sold in US any longer. So if you have an older camera you might find a battery in Europe for it that you can't get in US.

I bought a camera battery at Boots in London, and it cost about $5 more. However, despite all the warnings about the high cost of film in Europe, I found 100ASA in a camera shop in London for about $3.00 a roll, $3.50 in a supermarket.

I thought that the batteries in Europe were 60 Hertz AC
