BARCELONA HOTEL RECS for SEPT 11-14, 2015
Need recommendations for hotel in BARCELONA where air conditioning is great, onsite food as hubby is diabetic, WIFI free & hopefully works, and dreams would be at least a QUEEN bed & shower/bath combo.
Have 2 reservations 1) El Palace -- rates are so high (@$1,650 for 3 nights!!), & the other we have Olivia Balmes more affordable (@1,000 Euro), but the latter only has a bath & I get bad vibes in attempts at communication (email & over a few calls). Can't imagine being dependent on people who have communicated with me!! Bad vibes.
I've read so many reviews where #'s are great but when you read the words--bad air or a litany of other issues! I need to find a place where & finalize & move on to other things for our 15 day trip!!
Thank you for your help!!

I've stayed at the Hotel Montecarlo - it's right on the Ramblas so plenty of restaurants nearby but the windows are glazed so well you hear no street noise at all.

Hotel Murmuri is an excellent choice, but rooms are in high demand in September. We just booked the last 2-bedroom apartment available at the hotel's residence for the end of September.
The Hotel 1898 is also another excellent choice, but tends to be expensive during high season.
For a top quality hotel, try the 5-star GL Hotel Majestic (hwww.hotelmajestic.es). It's less expensive then the Palace.

I really liked the NH Hotel Calderon on ramblas Catalunya. A very convenient location. It has great AC, free Wifi and being a larger 4* hotel, a restaurant. It's not as deluxe as what you are seeking, I don't think, as your desire for both a shower and tub are rather high standards. Their superior rooms around around 250 euro at that time, suites around 300 euro. YOu could ask if they have some special bath situation, I think I stayed in a superior.
One nice thing is they have two closets, though, which I've never seen before.
I'm not clear on the on-site restaurant due to diabetes, though. Many hotels' retaurants aren't open 24/7. This hotel is right on a street outside with tons of open-air restaurants anyway, and has minibar/frigs for one to keep something if that's a problem.

I'm going to check availability right now. I missed Hotel Neri; I waited too long. There is a "bank holiday" 9/11, plus high season so there is great demand.
Thanks for the suggestions!
(As to diabetic needs--need breakfast in-house & restaurants close by).
Thanks again!
