Barcelona apts.

Does anyone have any suggestions of apts to rent for a week in late Sept. We are mid 20's, and want a nice, clean safe place with a kitchen that is reasonably priced. ALso, we would like something convenient to getting around the city. Thanks for your help-
Mo

Mo, my husband and I are going to be in Barcelona at the end of October and I did a LOT of research regarding Barcelona apartments.

We finally decided to stay in an apt. located on Ramblas. Even tho it may be noisy, we always take ear plugs on European trips because we like to stay in city centers. Our second choice of location was in the area around Santa Maria del Pi and the main Cathedral in the Barrie Gotic. Many posters recommended staying in the "Born" area which is the new "hip" area with lots of restaurants, etc. Our only problem with that area was that it seems to be a bit of a distance from the Ramblas area. We like to do a lot of walking to explore and then return to the apartment, rest and then go back out again and for us, being closer to the Ramblas made more sense.

We found the following websites very helpful in locating apartments.
www.lodginginbarcelona.com
www.cocoonbarcelona.com
www.holiday-velvet.com

Good luck!

Hi
Try gobcn.com for some nice apartments.
We normally stay just off the Ramblas, noise is not normally a problem. Around the Placa Real area can be a bit daunting in the early hours to a newcomer but we've always found it safe (3 girls 25-35).
The Bus Tours are a great way to get around the city as you can hop on and off at the various points of interest.
If staying near The Ramblas then you are in a good place to get around by foot, the Port and Beach isn't far.
If you want nightlife then the Olympic port area has a lot of bars and clubs. A taxi to razzmatazz is a good bet too, 1 club with 4 areas to suit most tastes.
Try D'or just off Placa Catalunya for tapas.
Barcelona is my fav city ever, keep hold of your bags on The Ramblas, we've never had any problems, but they advise to be aware of pick pockets (like any big city). It really is a 24 hour city and it's nice to chat to the street cleaners at 5am while they are busily sweeping and washing down the streets, whilst people in last nights clothes are going home.

we stayed with barcelona bedrooms in La ramblas apartments 2 weeks ago for 4 nights and it was great - clean, good A/C. On thier website it went for 125 euros a night, but we got it through booking.com for 99 euros/night.
It was clean, great location (they also have beach properties) the only downside was in the old buildings there were no elevators so we had a lot of stairs, but it wasn't that bad for us.

There are no problem between choosing Ramblas or Born district for staying in the center of the city. Both of them are centrally places.

You can go on foot from Rambles to Born in 10 minutes

Bye

Yes, Born is only minutes from Las Ramblas, and a perfectly safe place to stay. It's very convenient for buses and the underground too, and within easy walking distance of the harbour and beach.

I rented a small apartment just off Argenteria quite a few years ago (too many to safely be able to recommend it now - in fact the website doesn't work now so it probably isn't even available any more) when the El Born district was still up-and-coming. We loved the area, we were just 2 minutes from the Picasso Museum through the alleys and just round the corner from Taller de Tapas which I CAN recommend for delicious food as can several others here.

Hi we booked through insideBCN. Apartment called esparteria 1. it was 99 euro's a night in the born district, close to everything. I have to say La Ramblas was my least favorite part of Barcelona. It was very crowded. I liked strolling down Argenteria, sitting having an espresso or gelato and watching the people. The apartment had a kitchen, washing machine, line to dry on balcony and awesome happening location

I rented an apt called calders in the Born area. It is listed on the "loving Barcelona" rental site. Fabulous location on a quiet street. The apt was clean, functional, with a "juliet balcony", compact kitchen..no oven but who cares! I would highly recommend it.

Hi
My sister and I are staying here next month. It looks darling, it's a great price (on sale right now) and it has been a breeze dealing with the owner. It's in L'eixample.
