Attacked in Paris
This is not intended to scare anyone, but to just to remind you that Paris is a big city with a huge variety of people. My husband and I just returned from Paris where we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. With the time change and all, we ate late almost every night..10:30 to 11:00 and walked after dinner. We were approached violently one night after dinner in le Marais. (Not a bad area, just a crazy person that happened to be in the area). Nothing was taken from us, but my husband still has bruises on his chest from where the fellow hit him. Very scary indeed and also a much needed eye-opener. We took for granted that we were in the city of love and taking romantic walks after dinner, no matter the time was wonderful. It was, but we forgot that we were also in a very big city. We did have a wonderful time despite the incident after which we flew into a taxi and went back to the hotel, whereupon we numbed ourselves with red wine. We bought mace the next day (not a necessity, just a quick reflex on my husbands part) and proceeded to thrive in the romantic city, but with just a tad more caution and common sense. Et voila! Enjoy, but use your head as well!!

I just returned from Paris & had a similar encounter. A crazy fellow intentionally banged his head into mine last Sunday in Marais. Luckily, no real damage. He then ran down the street violently flipping up strange women's hair. Two days earlier, I saw the same fellow doing the hair stuff on the subway! I gather from people who live in Paris that the French do nothing about mentally ill absent a major incident. Do watch out for them!
