ATM (Mastercard) Question for FCO
We will be in Rome next month, and plan to use our ATM (belongs to Mastercard network, which is also Cirrus and Maestro) when we get to FCO. In searching the ATM location on Mastercard's website, it stated that there were no ATMs for the Mastercard network found in FCO. Thinking that maybe it was just an fluke for FCO, I tried other airports in Europe where I have successfully used this same ATM card, and sure enough, they show up. My question: Has anyone used an ATM with the Mastercard, Cirrus or Maestro logos with success at FCO? We have a driver picking us up, and accepts only cash payment. By the way, I also tried to see if there is an ATM for Visa/PLUS network in FCO, and it also stated there were no ATMs belonging to the Visa/PLUS network. Maybe this is just an oversight since these websites rely on the financial institutions to report their ATM locations. Thank you for your help.

I went to the mastercard site to see where the nearest ATM/bank was to my hotel for my trip to Paris. It listed one that was 250 meters, 500 meters, and 550 meters in the opposite direction.
This was more than adequate! But upon arrival, I noticed there were at least 6 ATMs that accepted mastercard/cirrus/maestro. All were within 300 meters.
I don’t know that their main website will actually list all of the ATMs worldwide; they certainly didn’t for my little adopted neighborhood! There were more than enough, and most were NOT listed or mapped. And these were full service banks!
You may want to consider this for Rome; maybe it is similar there???

Nena, it's what you enter in your search that determines the results. Those ATM websites aren't very intuitive, so you often have to use several different forms of address before you get the information you need. I went to your Mastercard link, entered Fiumicino, and it shows an ATM at FCO. A good website for finding basic airport information, incidentally, is http://www.world-airport-codes.com/. I used it to find the alternate name of Leonardo Da Vinci airport.

Heimdall - Thanks for the tip. You are absolutely right. We are also going to Naples, and I entered Naples, and it came back with nothing. I entered "Napoli" and the list was quite lengthy.
Libby123 - Thank you; that's helpful information.
CYNCITYFAN - I guess they really do not list most of the ATMs.
Thank you all for your help.

Hi Nena, just saw your post. Just to add to the thread..my Rome born and bred SIL used his ATM MC at FCO last summer without any problem. He left here (California) to fly to Rome due to a family emergency and consequently did not have any time to get any euros even if he had wanted to. He had no problem whatsoever. Best wishes.
