Anyone interested in a GTG in Italy 9/16-10/3?
I know there have been a few threads about this, but so far my dates haven't coincided with others, so I'm trying a new thread.
I'll be travelling solo and would love to meet up with other Fodorites for a glass of wine or dinner!
Arrive 9/16 for 4 nights in Venice
To Florence on 9/20 for 3 nights
To Siena on 9/23 for 2 nights
To Pienza on 9/25 for 3 nights
To Rome on 9/28 for 5 nights
Anyone in these places at the same time?

I'm glad you posted. I remembered you were traveling at about the same time.
Here's my itinerary,
9/11-9/13 Positano

If you will have a car, we might meet in Tuscany, or we might get Dutyfree and Melody to meet with us in Rome.

Hi Dayle, I won't have a car in Tuscany, so it looks as though 9/29 in Rome is the only day we will be in the same place. Wouldn't you know, that's the evening I have a ticket for the Opera! Are you there all day on the 29th? Maybe lunch would work. The only thing I have tentatively scheduled for that morning is visiting Santa Maria della Vittoria, so lunch could be almost anywhere.

I'll be in Venice from late morning of the 19th for 8 nights and in Rome late morning of the 27th for 2 nights.A great/fun place for dinner in Rome L'Orso 80 near Pz. Navona. Let me know if you're available for either/both dates. Mike

Mike, Both of those would work, the 19th in Venice and the 28th in Rome. Naturally, due to all the Fodorite recommendations, I was planning to try L'Orso 80, so that would be great.
Linda, I'm staying near San Lorenzo. If you'd like to meet for wine or dinner, Florence is small enough that it could be anywhere.

Susan, I'll meet you outside of L'Orso 80 on the 28th at 7:30 PM. I'm staying at a convent hotel near the Coloseum. I've rented an apartment from a lady in San Francisco as it has no telephone. It's located very close to the Ca Rezzonico Vaporetto stop.

Mike, Sounds good for the 28th. I was going to suggest Acqua Pazza in Venice, as it would be right between where each of is staying, but I see in my notes that it's closed on Mon, so I will recheck my list.

I still don't have my schedule yet for next month-but I put down leaving for FCO on the 29th(being there on the 30th) and leaving Oct. 1st.Anyone available for a different day other than the 28th? I hate drinking by myself.......just kidding!!!!

It's amazing how everyone is just barely crossing paths! I'm not sure if I'll be in Rome on 9/29 by lunchtime. I'll be returning my car to Foligno and taking the train in.

dutyfree, I'd be glad to meet you for wine or dinner on the 30th! How do you feel about Il Ciak in Trastavere? The food there sounds terrific. Of course, you go to Rome all the time, so maybe you have a different suggestion.

Mike, for Venice on the 19th, how about Ristorante Mansaniello (same owners as Acqua Pazza, good reviews here)? It's located in Campo Santo Stefano, just west of La Fenice in San Marco and would be convenient for both of us.

Linda, It's on the other side of the city, but if you're interested in dinner, I've read very good things about Acqua al 2, Via della Vigna Vecchia 40/R, which would be between the two locations and not very far from Santa Croce. Any of those three nights would be OK for me.

I'll be in Rome 9/30 - 10/5, so let me know if you folks decide on anything on those dates. Love meeting fellow Fodorites. I'm going with 5 other women, so it might be nice to sneak away for a drink or dinner!

Barb, If dutyfree ends up being there on the 30th and we meet for dinner, come and join us! I'm not sure when she will be getting her definite schedule. If she doesn't end up coming on that date, I could still meet you either 9/30 or 10/1.

Well, because I don't get into Rome until pretty late on the 30th, I think the 1st or 2nd might be better. I will have a cell phone w/me, so you can always give me a call (I can email that to you before you leave). Been to Orso 80 and it's fab - I'm taking my friends there. I hope you can go there with Barbmike, you'll love it. Where are you staying. We are renting apts. in Campo di Fiori area. Tons of good places to eat around there, but also in Trastevere.

Barb, The 1st or 2nd would be OK with me. How about Ristorante del Pallaro? I'm staying at the southern end of Piazza Navona, so that would be right between us and it's one I want to try. If it's the 1st, I would need to eat a little later, probably not before 8:30.
